We need more leaders who are Mavericks!
A week ago, we were truly stimulated! Our friend, the London Business School’s Professor Jules Goddard entered AKD Solutions STIMULATE space and excited and inspired senior leaders from across a range of industries.
At AKD Solutions we give leaders the space to pause and take time to think in an environment where they can have stimulating, challenging and productive conversations. That STIMULATE is experiential and experimental makes it exciting. It allows leaders to focus on themselves, lean in and look forward.
Prof. Jules is currently writing a book on mavericks. A dictionary definition is; a person who thinks and acts in an independent way, often behaving differently from the expected or usual way. He is looking at what makes a maverick and how organisations respond to them.
AKD Solutions goal is always to stimulate brilliant conversations, and that’s exactly what Prof. Jules thoughts did. Here’s just a snippet of some of the discussions we overheard:
"Mavericks deeply care about the cause, but not about the personal consequences. They are willing to take the risk.”
"There is a cultural, time and geographical context to being a maverick."
"If you look for danger, you find it."
"Tolerance - is that a good thing?"
"I realised I'm not a troublemaker; I'm simply a maverick."
Huge thanks to everyone who participated. May the inner maverick in you all continue to soar!
