Equally Yours

The Benefits

Equally Yours™ is one of the most dynamic, interactive and effective learning experiences available for diversity and inclusion. This training solution is for those who want diversity and inclusion to be integral to their organisation and need a training solution to match that aspiration. The training is refreshing and inclusive and breaks the mould with regards to how many people experience or perceive equality training.

Equally Yours™ allows participants to increase their understanding of legislation, explore how they would manage a range of real life scenarios, and discuss different stereotypes and issues in a fun, vibrant and safe environment. The training can be used by all staff, from senior management to frontline teams, for 2 hours to a whole day.

What Equally Yours Can Achieve

Learning objectives will vary according to your audience but can include:

- Developing a deeper understanding and confidence when managing issues of diversity and inclusion;
- To explore individual and collective perceptions, thinking and behaviour and the impact on diversity and inclusion
- To increase knowledge of legislation, policy and guidance and the impact on decision making, systems and conduct
- An enhanced understanding of how diversity adds vibrancy and real value to the workplace.

Why This Helps Your Organisation

Virtually all organisations now have diverse workforces and customers.

We appreciate that diversity and inclusion are a challenging subject that many people are reluctant to engage with. However, if you want to be authentic it’s important that you can be bold, frank and honest in your approach. By doing so, you are more likely to gain the trust of staff and customers alike.

Our approach means that myths can be dispelled, staff can reflect on why they think and behave in a certain way, and understand what the organisation expects of them in developing a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

In-House Or Outsourced Training

We have a team of highly experienced Associates with a vast knowledge of delivering Diversity and Inclusion training in the UK who can come into your organisation to facilitate this course. However, you can also purchase Equally Yours™ on a licence basis.

This course uses a serious game to engage participants in the learning experience, the session is brought to life by our powerful learning map and can be used with up to 15 people in a session split into teams. Teams navigate around the learning map answering questions, discussing real life scenarios and considering diversity and inclusion dilemmas with the team that travels the furthest winning the game.

Care Quality Commission

Introduction

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Their role is to ensure that healthcare and social care services, including hospitals, residential and nursing homes are meeting national minimum standards.

The Challenge

With the introduction of the Equalities Act 2010, the Head of Involvement Equality and Human Rights wanted a totally fresh approach to delivering equalities training.

The training was for over 2,000 staff across England and Wales and budget pressures meant that a creative way of delivering this to a number of staff was required.

What We Did

The Care Quality Commission was already aware of our Interactive Training Tool “Equally Yours” and really liked this concept, so we created a bespoke version for them.

This meant spending time with officers to understand the day to day equalities and diversity issues the organisation encountered. This enabled us to create questions and case studies, as well as a new board design that was specifically for the CQC.

In addition, we created the CQC Learning Zone which allowed all staff to go online and complete pre and post classroom assessments.

Outcomes

Feedback from the client was that the combination of elements had not only succeeded but had enabled them to measure increases in knowledge and confidence.

“The development of the work required customising the tool to meet our specific needs. AKD worked very closely with us to deliver a product that met our expectations. I found them helpful, supportive and knowledgeable. As well as listening to us they were also able to guide our thinking to get the best out of the project. AKD’s staff were at all times helpful and supportive, with a can-do attitude.

The work was delivered on time and to cost. All the milestone deliverables were met along the way. Any issues or problems were resolved quickly and to our satisfaction. The final product has been used by a range of our staff and the feedback has been extremely positive. It has delivered exactly what was expected”.
